Hi !
The list of last updated software is here.
This list only keeps the obsolete links from the other real index file.

Tracker Add-ons for BeOS R3 Intel :
|
- zipme_072.zip
(description: zipme_072.txt)
ZipMe is the coolest way to zip files and directories directly from
the BeOS Tracker. Once ZipMe and the zip binary installed, you just
need to right-click on a file and select ZipMe in the add-on context
menu.
The default installation of BeOS doesn't comes with the zip
executable installed. Anyway, it's really simple to add. You can either
get it from BeWare.
Zip is
made available to you thanks to the great work of Chris
Herborth.
- expandme_063.zip
(description: expandme_063.txt)
ExpandMe is the precursor of the native BeOS tool Expander. It allows
you to expand compressed files with just one click or a keypress. It's
a Tracker add-on, which means its use is pretty straightforward : just
select the file and select ExpandMe in the File>Add-ons menu !
- shellme_010.zip
(description: shellme_010.txt)
ShellMe is my last Tracker add-on. It allows you to preset several command
line dealing with files. Then you can easily apply the defined commands
to a file, a directory or several of them with a simple mouse click
without quitting the comfortable Tracker.
This add-on is still under developement, I only coded the part I really
needed. I have planned a lot of options and a nice GUI that would allow
you to add commands without need for an extensive command-line knowlegde,
but that's still to be done.

December 1997 to March 1998
During this extended period, I was lost in hyperspace.
Well sort of. I had a lot of real work to issue here, and thus no time and no
will to really code.
But I still kept track of a lot of ideas and I made a list of the possible incoming
projects plus the current ones:
(list updated the 1st September 1998)
| Name |
Description |
| RLib |
A portable library. It's the core classes for all my new projects. The
lib gives a uniform class canvas that allows for programming on BeOS (R3
Intel and R3 PPC) and on Windows. AmigaOS port is possible and a
Linux port would be cool. Almost done (at least at the conception level).
Unpublished dreamware. |
| Poucet |
My future toy 3d engine. Not started, and thus unpublished. |
| Tacet |
My toy ray-casting engine. Used by Nerdkill 3d. I'm currently working
on this : the paper draft impatiently waits to be coded ;-).
Unpublished. |
| PowerPulsar |
More or less ported to R3 Intel.
Working on the next release, running at least on BeOS Intel, BeOS PPC and
Windows. Based on the RLib and possibly on the Poucet engine or any other
more serious 3d engine (OpenGL, RazMot).
Best experienced with a bi-PowerPC box (blue or beige, as you wish :-)).
|
| Nerdkill |
I finaly published the 1.0 version. The project is closed. |
| Nerdkill 3D |
The next release of Nerdkill. Based on RLib and Tacet, it will run under
BeOS R3 Intel, BeOS R3 PPC and Windows. |
| VideoShooter |
Grabber & player running under BeOS. Player running (bugging) under Windows.
Based on RLib. Unpublished due to absence of GUI. |
| ShellMe |
Temporarily suspended. |
| ZipMe |
Indefinitely suspended. Updated from time to time. |
| ExpandMe |
Indefinitely suspended. Updated from time to time. |
| DiskMapper |
Suspended. Should revive since I got the info I needed :-) |
| Pegase |
A version control and source archiving project, based on a client/server
model.
Discontinued for an obvious reason : I can't compete with RCS and just doing
a GUI on top of the former is of little interest to me (command-line's good
enough). |
| ABCD |
A mix between a mind-mapping editor and a textual plan editor.
Frozen to death. |

Donwload the latest version of PowerPulsar :
There is a bunch of improvments, not always very visible. Mainly :
- now add-ons can be dynamically reloaded,
- a track can be modified/saved/loaded while you play it,
- there are 12 predefined configurations that can be loaded by a key press
(especially useful in fullscreen mode),
- in fullscreen you can invert the whole video with a presskey (this is cool
for flashing effects in parties).
- add-ons now render in main memory, which improve speed,
- the UMAX display hack is nearly twice faster,
- the display has been tested and corrected on the ATI/Mac video card,
- now can handle two video cards : one for the BeOS interface and the other
being the fullscreen output. A Matrox Millenium is a cool second card for
this purpose.
- the fullscreen display can work in either single, double or tripple buffer,
directly with the video ram or the main memory,
- all the choices are availables by a mouse click in the preference window,
- prefs are saved (using libpref).
- there is a new add-on designed exclusively to play QuickTime movies (currently
this is a slow & ugly hack).

Disk Mapper 0.0.0.1 :
- Disk Mapper 0.0.0.1 (25 kB)
and its description. This program
displays the block mapping of a device (i.e. hard disk, zip, jazz) under a
graphical way.
23 September 1997
Donwload the latest version of PowerPulsar :
- PowerPulsar 0.7.5 full archive
(2.5 MB) and its description.
This archive contains the whole stuff demoed at Paris' Apple Expo in September
1997 on the Be booth. It also contains the full documentation. This makes
the archive bigger but it's a good point to start if you don't know PowerPulsar
and want to try it for the first time.
- PowerPulsar 0.7.5 diff
archive (320 kB) which is the difference from the 0.7.4 version. This
file just contains the executable and the interface images. Do not download
this if you don't have PowerPulsar already.
16 September 1997
Tracker Add-on :
- expandme_062.zip
and
expandme_062.txt,
this updated version of ExpandMe displays a console. (There is also an ugly
hack : if you press the SHIFT key before the window closes, it won't close
until you release the modifier.)
Pulsar Add-on :
- Fire Add-on, which is a port
of 'Plasma' by Christian Bauer (in fact this turns to be a fire, not a plasma.)
This add-on comes with source and it's (almost) a clean base to make other
add-ons.

Donwload PowerPulsar :
For this stuff to work correctly, you need to download the 0.7.2
version, then apply it the patch from the 0.7.4
version. You also need to get the Datatypes 1.6.3 library from BeWare.

I'ave added this material to the web : some photos.

Donwload PowerPulsar :
On BeWare, you should find the same archive under the name of pulsar_071_PR.zip.
See the comments.

BeDC/MacWorld demo version of Pulsar :
On BeWare, you should find the same archive under the name of pulsar_07_PR.zip.
See the comments.

- Keftale with Rotozoom, a demo from SpH neat ideas. Grab both the txt
file and the zip archive.
This for both AA and PR gm7.
- The latest AA Pulsar
stuff, with the latest add-on, supports full game kit in 8 bit and shows a
first (bugged) implementation of game kit 32 bits.

A bit of history...
I'm a BeOS geek since February 1994, when I used the first Hobbit BeBox available
in France. From 1994 to 1996, I had a lot of fun using BeOS, and pain too. From
the Hobbit BeBox and its "experimental" OS (which was already very cool) to
the first PowerPC BeBox, I had a great pleasure developping on the BeOS, but
my contributions to the worldwide BeOS community were limited. Things changed
at the beginning of 1997, when I started coding on the BeOS for my own pleasure,
coding on the softwares I really like.
